About
Madeline Te Whiu was, up until very recently, a veterinary nurse. However, as of 2026, she has left the Vet industry behind (please clap) and is now working part-time as a publicist for New Dawn Publishing. The remainder of her time is spent as an author- working on her upcoming Dark Urban Romantasy and a few other secret projects.
She lives in semi-rural Perth with her husband, cats, and prized collection of books.
Madeline has always had an avidity for reading, especially fantasy, with her favourite authors being Peter V Brett, Rachel Gillig, and C.L Wilson, just to name a few.
Madeline's debut novel, The Assassin Thief, was shortlisted for the WA Premier's Book Awards 2023 in the Emerging Writer category. In 2024, The Queen Thief was published, completing The Soul Thief trilogy.
With work on her next books well underway, Madeline is looking forward to bringing a new world, characters, and a dash of trauma to her readers.

Can I bring my pre-purchased books to an event to sign?
Absolutely! I am happy to sign any books, merchandise, signing journals, art prints, etc.
Does it cost anything to have you sign stuff?
No. I never charge to sign any items.
Do I need a ticket to attend?
Some events may require tickets. Please check the event organisers' website for ticketing information.

Can I take a photo/videos with you?
Yes, please do! I love to take photos during signing events, and I have no problem with you recording our interactions. Please tag me so I can share.
Will you read my book?
Unfortunately, due to my workload (and the fact that I am the worst mood reader ever), I will have to decline any offers to read your book at this time.

Can you give me advice on writing/editing/my publishing journey?
I am always willing to answer any questions about my writing and publication journey. You are welcome to reach out to me via email or over on my socials if you have any burning questions. When I have the time, I will endeavour to answer you as best I can. We all have to start somewhere, and asking is how we learn.
Please remember that I work and write, so I may not be able to answer all of your questions if I am busy.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my 2027 release. A dark, urban fantasy with Greek Gods and Mafia bosses.
What work do you do for New Dawn Publishing?
I am currently working part-time as their Publicist, helping with the PR side of things. This means I help organise events, signings, etc. for New Dawn's current authors, as well as reaching out to other authors with blurb requests, and general networking things.
I do not have any input into submissions or who is picked up by New Dawn Publishing. Please do not reach out to me with any submission enquiries (general advice on how to submit to an agent is fine).
